Asian Intelligent Architecture Market will Value More than One Billion in 2020

07/31/2012 - 15:08

Next decade Asian new architecture market will have a rapid development and will also stimulate the development of intelligent architecture. According to the lateset report of BSRIA, the market scale of intelligent architecture will grow to 1.4 billion dollars in 2020 from the present 0.427 billion dollars, providing a wide developing space for advanced architectural techniques and service.

Until 2030, energy consumption in Asia will take 45% of that in the whole world. Among them, architecture will be the biggest electricity consumer. The influence on climate caused by fast development of urbanization in Asia will be reduced by developing intelligent architecture.

In Asia, the concept of intelligent architecture includes green architecture and intelligent architecture. In this area, there are many key standards of evaluation for these two kinds of architectures.

In many countries of Asia, intelligent city has realized a sustainable developing mode. It contains a lot including infrastructure of communication technique (ICT), ecosystem, sustainability, green environment and low-carbon city, explaining the connotation of green in different ways.

Japan and South Korea have Fujisawa and Songdo IDB two intelligent cities respectively. While in China, 36 intelligent cities are in construction. In 2050, Singapore will be a new intelligent city, while Iskanda of Malaysia would have become a flagship intelligent city. Delhi and Mumbai industrial zone will be intelligent cities of India in the future. China is investing 250 billions to build Tianjin a low-carbon demonstration city.

Intelligent city provides numerous commercial opportunities for communication technique, software, electronic hardware and low-carbon industries. At present, communication technique and software enterprises are developing themselves in intelligent city market. System and service providers cooperating with government have become independent investors.

Zero energy building, compared with its higher target, is no more than a concept in many Asian countries excluding Japan. Usually, zero energy building sets an example for the application of various low-carbon technologies.

In developing countries, the key point of intelligent grid is the upgrading of the current infrastructure of communication technique, but in developed countries, it is related to communication system. In China and India, upgrading the grid to answer the increasing electricity needs is imminent. Different countries are in different developing stages of intelligent grid. Chinese government promised to invest 150 billion dollars to upgrade the grid, other countries are also investing in this field. The electricity markets of Asian countries are still state-owned and monopolistic, while Australia’s is open. In developing countries, the problem of electricity shortage is usually solved by DSM. Although Auto DM is still in starting stage in Asia, but present DSM market has provided commercial opportunities for its development.

Based on ICT, energy and every aspect of low-carbon technologies, intelligent buildings integrated together formed intelligent city and intelligent grid. Government, end user and building owners are driving force for the development of intelligent and green architecture. Intelligent architecture keeps developing in intelligent cities, and green architecture will be the main trend of Asian new architecture development.

In its latest report, BSRIA defined six trends of intelligent architecture design. We should not only focus on the extra cost of intelligent architecture, but also put more consideration on how to make more suitable products and solutions. The research shows that, compared with that of 5 years ago, the budget of some architecture system has greatly increased.

By the year 2020, the market share of Asian architecture would take 43% of that in the whole world. China, India, Japan and Indonesia would be the most rapid developed regions. At that time, pushed by urbanization, intelligent architecture and governments’ target in carbon emission reduction, Asian intelligent architecture market will reach 1.4 billion dollars.
